Persian Empire

The Persian Empire is a de jure empire consisting of 3 kingdom titles, 19 duchy titles and 75 county titles. The title does not exist by default in the timeframe of Crusader Kings II or The Old Gods DLC, but can be created by the player or the AI. The Persian Empire existed prior to 867 (226 - 651).

De Jure Territory

The de-jure kingdom titles within the Persian Empire are as follows:

• Khiva
• Mesopotamia
• Persia

The de jure capital of the Persian Empire is the county of Esfahan - AI rulers of the Persian Empire are likely to make this their capital.

Creation Conditions

De jure territory of the Persian Empire

A ruler requires 2 kingdom titles, plus at least 80% (60) of the 75 de jure counties to create the Persian Empire. In addition, a significant amount of gold and piety is required to create the Persian Empire.

Creating the Persian Empire grants the creator 800 prestige.

Unique Mechanics

Restoring the High Priesthood (requires The Old Gods DLC) - If Zoroastrianism becomes the state religion of Persia, i.e. the ruler of the Persian Empire is Zoroastrian, it is possible to reinstate the ancient office of Moabadan-Moabad - the Priest of Priests and head of the Zoroastrian faith. In addition to holding the Persian Empire  restoring the High Priesthood requires 300 piety.

Saoshyant (requires The Old Gods DLC) - The Saoshyant is a figure prophecied by Zoroaster, founder of the Zoroastrian religion, to be the chosen saviour of the world. A Zoroastrian ruler can declare himself the Saoshyant if he holds the Persian Empire and all duchies in the de jure empire. 1500 piety is also required. The Saoshyant gains a unique trait which gives a relations boost with all Zoroastrian rulers. Similarly, all descendents of the Saoshyant gain a trait which gives a relations boost with all Zoroastrian rulers.
